Hi, I'm Sophie 👋
Wagtails started with a simple belief: grooming should be a treat, not a trauma. After 12 years working with dogs across Cambridgeshire, I opened a calm, one-dog-at-a-time salon right here in Ely.
No cages. No production line. No scary high-velocity dryers blasting away. Every pup gets my full attention, a breed-appropriate style, and as many cuddles as they'll allow. Nervous rescues and bouncy puppies are my absolute favourites.

Frequently woofed questions
Do you groom nervous or rescue dogs?
Absolutely — they're our favourites. We work one dog at a time, with no cages and no rushing, at a pace your dog is comfortable with. We'll happily do short "settling in" visits first.
How long does a full groom take?
Usually 2–3 hours depending on size and coat. We never rush — your dog gets the time they need to stay calm and comfortable, and we'll text you when they're ready.
Does my dog need to be vaccinated?
Yes. We ask that all dogs are up to date with vaccinations (or have a titre test) to keep every dog that visits the salon safe and happy.
My dog's coat is matted — can you still help?
Yes, and we'll never brush out matts if it would hurt. Sometimes a kind, shorter cut is the gentlest option — we'll always talk you through it before we start.
What age can puppies start grooming?
From around 12–16 weeks, once fully vaccinated. Our Puppy's First Groom gently introduces them so grooming feels fun for life.
Where are you and is there parking?
We're in central Ely with free parking right outside. We groom dogs from Ely, Soham, Littleport, Witchford, Sutton, Stretham, Haddenham and the surrounding Fenland villages.
